I have developed this habit of buying pillow forms every time we make a trip to IKEA. What can I say, I love throw pillows! Few things are better than snuggling up on a comfy couch surround by squishy softness. So after learning about the Linked Double Crochet stitch it hit me that it would be perfect for a pillow cover!! No gaps like with single crochet, but with the speed of double crochet! Win win!
In this pattern I alternate between rows of LDC and sc. I love the texture that LDC gives so by alternating rows all of the “links” are on the right side. This works up fairly quickly when the toddlers cooperate 😉
- 2 skiens of Caron Simply Soft – Victorian Rose
- 2 skiens of Caron Simply Soft – White
- 5mm hook

- Four 22.5mm buttons
16 stitches by 6 rows of the pattern repeat = 4×4 inches
Terms and stitches used:
Linked Double Crochet – LDC, single crochet – sc, chain – ch
This pattern is for a 20inch pillow form. First row of regular dc will be used as button holes. ch1 at the start of sc rows do not count as a stitch. Cover is made in one long piece that will be folded and seamed together.
Row 1 In white ch 67, dc in 3rd ch from hook, 64 dc, ch1 turn
Row 2 65sc, ch3 turn
Row 3 –65 LDC, ch1 turn
Rows 4-14 Repeat rows 2 and 3 ending with a row 2
Row 15 In Rose 65 LDC, ch1 turn
Rows 16-62 Repeat rows 2 and 3 ending with a row 2
Rows 63- 110 In white Repeat rows 2 and 3 ending with a row 2
Now you are ready to seam! Lay your work with the right facing up. Fold in half at the color changes, leaving the button flap out. You should have the right sides touching with the wrong sides up. Seam along the two sides all the way up to the button flap. Weave in all loose ends then flip it inside out. Sew buttons evenly spaced along row 98, stuff with a 20″ pillow form.
